English Language Tutors

Our tutors are familiar with the requirements of a range of GCSE/IGCSE and A Level exam boards (and there are plenty of them) including:

Although there are some key differences between GCSE English exam boards, the core skills remain the same with the key focus areas being:

  • Analysis of Fiction & Non Fiction Texts
  • Directed Writing (writing for a specific purpose eg. Discursive, Explanatory, Persuasive etc.)
  • SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)
  • Spoken Language

Our tutors can break each of these areas down and ensure that students are confident with connotations, perfect at punctuation and familiar with all the expectations of the course.

When it comes to A Level English Language things can become a bit more scary.  The A Level syllabus bears little relation to the GCSE and can leave students needing to lie down in a dark room once they see the course breakdown.  However, it is a fascinating subject with great opportunities for expert study and a little extra support can make it much more enjoyable than it might at first seem.

Good to know…We believe strongly in personalised learning; our tutors will tailor your child’s lessons to support their individual learning styles and needs.

What can our tutors offer you?

  • Carefully planned sessions which help to establish a clear structure and achievable goals.
  • Engaging lessons that encourage your child to enjoy their studies and become independent learners.
  • Written feedback after every lesson to enable you to keep track of your child’s progress.

THE GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE SAYS:

“A lot of these companies are not that serious about education – not exactly fly-by-night, but nowhere near as sincere and professional as Newman Tuition, who take an interest in how you educate people and really care about their clients.”
