Hammerson’s Testimonial
Hammerson engaged Jonny and Zac to provide a talk on mental health for all our staff during Mental Health Awareness Week in 2020. We were aware of the pressures that our employees were facing due to the Covid lockdown and wanted to provide an inspiring session that offered very practical tools to help people manage their mental wellbeing in a uniquely challenging period.
Jonny and Zac were flexible and responsive throughout the planning of the session and took additional steps to support us in finding a technological solution that would allow us to broadcast the event live to all staff in their homes across the whole country.
Jonny’s personal story was, of course, inspiring, and has helped a number of staff to discuss their own pressures and challenges more openly than they previously have, and to ask for support more readily, which has been crucial during this period in which managers are less able to observe signs of mental strain and ill health in their employees.
Zac’s portion of the presentation was focused on practical tools for managing anxiety and provided these in a really clear and easily digestible format, which balanced well with Jonny’s inspirational personal story.
Jonny and Zac were really easy to work with to plan and arrange this event and they adapted to a brief that was constantly evolving, right up to and including the day of the session. We would be delighted to work with them again in the future to continue our workplace mental wellbeing activity.
Some feedback received from staff:
“Please pass on my thanks for an engaging, interesting, inspiring session. Huge admiration for Jonny.”
“I just wanted to feed back that I thought it was an incredible session. I hugely admire Jonny’s strength and courage to talk about his struggles with mental health. It’s still something that we find incredibly difficult to talk about, even sometimes with our loved ones, so I think it’s amazing that he is able to talk so openly about it with the aim of spreading awareness and understanding.
Both of them were great, spoke so well, and said things that will definitely stick with me. Zac’s story about the wolves really stuck with me, as did obviously Jonny’s personal story. I liked the presentation about how we can do things to help our mental health (the mindfulness meditation made me feel more relaxed than I had been in a long time). And I also liked the comment about that hopefully one day there will not be “physical” and “mental” health, but instead just “health”.”
“That was so brilliant. I even took pictures of the screen. Some really good tips. Feedback from the team is really positive too, so thank you!”
